Organized and loving parents are seeking a dedicated and hardworking nanny to join their family team in McLean, Virginia. They are seeking a well-rounded, highly skilled, knowledgeable, and attentive full-time nanny to provide attentive care for their 5-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter.
Their 5-year-old son is curious, witty, loving, and full of energy. He’s a thoughtful and inquisitive learner with a passion for science, building, cars, trains, and nature. He thrives on exploring the outdoors, engaging in active play, and swimming.
Their 6-year-old daughter is creative, independent, and strong-willed, with a playful and sweet nature. She loves art, music, reading, pretend play, and being active. From swimming and ballet to lacrosse and board games, she enjoys a wide range of activities that let her imagination and energy shine.
This lively family embraces an active, engaging lifestyle, filled with family vacations during school breaks and fun at home. They enjoy activities ranging from building blocks, board games, and reading to art projects and imaginative play. Outings to the zoo, movies, and live shows are also favorites. Travel is a key part of their lifestyle, with the nanny joining them for 7-day trips during Spring and Winter breaks and extended summer stays abroad for 2 to 4 weeks.
In this fully staffed home, effective communication, exceptional organization, and following parental directions are essential. The ideal candidate is a hard-working professional with excellent judgment, problem-solving skills, and a strong work ethic. They should embody integrity, maintain a calm and discreet demeanor, and seamlessly align with the family’s parenting philosophy, a structured and loving approach. The candidate will respect each child as a unique individual, confidently establish boundaries, and nurture independence in bathing, dressing, and tidying up. They will seamlessly align with the family’s decision-making approach to provide consistent and supportive care. A genuine passion for childcare, flexibility to adapt to the family’s needs, and the ability to keep the children actively engaged are key qualities. The ideal applicant will possess nanny certifications and preferably a degree in child education. Proactive, intuitive, and enthusiastic, the candidate will bring energy, dedication, and a hands-on approach to the role, consistently going above and beyond expectations.
Responsibilities include creating a nurturing environment for the children to flourish and managing various child-related tasks such as meal preparation, tidying, organizing children’s areas, overseeing before and after-school routines, child-related transportation, ensuring cleanliness and tidiness in play areas and rooms, coordinating activities, managing schedules, and traveling with the family as needed. Responsibilities will also include supporting children with travel prep including planning and organizing trips and activities for the children and executing all necessary details.

Schedule
Full-time, Monday thru Friday 12 pm to 8 pm. Candidates can anticipate working 40+ hours a week. Adaptability and flexibility are essential to support two busy, working parents who occasionally travel for work. Responsibilities include staying late once or twice a week until 11pm, providing occasional overnight care as needed, and full-time 24/7 care (with additional support) 2–3 times per year when both parents travel for approximately one week.
Compensation
The family is offering up to $40+/hr, and open to a higher hourly rate DOE based on the weekly schedule, which equates to an annualized base compensation of up to $83k+/year dependent on experience and the agreed-upon schedule. The family is open to candidates seeking a higher compensation rate commensurate with experience.
