Household dynamic:

  • This vibrant family of six in New York seeks a reliable, proactive nanny/family assistant to join their team! Their 15-year-old is quite independent but may need rides to sports sessions such as baseball or football practice. The second child, age 13 years old, enjoys playing football, and spending time with friends, while their 11-year-old daughter is very athletic, participating in soccer, lacrosse, and basketball, as well as having a passion for makeup, dancing, and singing. The youngest, at 8 years old, likes to join in with his older brother’s friends. He has a tree nut allergy, so confidence in navigating this will be key. All of the children attend regular school. The nanny will be responsible for planning engaging activities, managing, and facilitating the children’s daily routines and chores, and assisting with their after-school activities, including helping with homework, particularly for the two youngest siblings. The family is excited to work with a candidate who can create a positive and supportive environment for their children, fostering a sense of structure and accountability while maintaining loving and firm boundaries if needed. They also have two pets, a cat, and a playful dog, someone who is comfortable around pets is important!
  • Dad and Mom are both at home. The family will be spending the summer in Nantucket, which is the only travel requirement unless otherwise requested. The family employs a full-time family assistant, a housekeeper, and a chef, so a team-minded candidate who can collaborate with other household members and staff is key!  Someone who can jump in confidently and focus on supporting the entire household will be a perfect fit.

Ideal candidate:

  • This position is ideal for someone dependable, self-directed, and collaborative nanny/family assistant who is eager to support a bustling household and nurture four active children! The family seeks a caring, playful, and level-headed candidate who can engage in meaningful conversations, and guide and reinforce the children’s responsibilities with care. The ideal candidate will be calm in chaos, highly organized in navigating the family’s moving pieces, and adaptable to shifting needs. The family values a positive role model who fosters positive behavior, empathy, and a sense of responsibility in their children. They maintain a low-screen, tech-conscious household and would appreciate someone who can uphold this while being tech-savvy enough to assist the children with homework and organization. A candidate who can read the room has an all-hands-on-deck approach and is well-versed in supporting the family and caring for multiple children will be a wonderful addition to their team!
  • Responsibilities include childcare tasks. Childcare responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep (if chef is not around), children’s laundry, light cleaning/tidying and organizing of children’s areas, occasional errands, after school routines and bedtime, coordinating activities, and traveling with the family to Nantucket/when asked. Candidates must be comfortable being trained to use an EpiPen.
  • While not required, the family would love to work with a candidate who has experience working with kids with ADHD or is interested in sports.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of professional childcare experience
  • Knowledge and experience with elementary through high school-age children
  • Ability to swim and comfortability caring for children in and near water
  • Open to traveling with children
  • Valid driver’s license
