Proactive and Energetic Family Assistant for Two Boys in Los Altos (August start)

Start: August 14th

A family who just moved to Los Altos from out of state is seeking a proactive, upbeat Family Assistant to help with childcare and household task. Their boys are 6 (going into Kindergarten) and 9 (going into 4th grade) years old. Their youngest is super sweet and active; their eldest is creative and loves to build. Responsibilities include driving the kids from school to activities, homework help (especially with reading comprehension for the youngest) running errands, simple cooking/meal prep for the family, family laundry, light tidying, and pet care for their two small dogs (including pet sitting whenever the family is traveling).

The best person for them is familiar with Los Altos and all the area has to offer for the kids. Someone who is engaged and active in helping parents plan the kids’ day-to-day needs and activities will be the best fit. This is a great opportunity for someone seeking a long-term commitment as the family will need help for at least the next two years.

SCHEDULE:
Monday to Friday 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. with some flexibility needed. Parents are determining the kids’ afterschool schedules and will know in the next few weeks what the school year will look like.

Experience Requirements

• 2 years minimum experience working as a Family Assistant with excellent verifiable references

Educational Requirements

• Fluency in English

Qualifications

• TB and Tdap vaccine
• CPR Certified
• Valid driver with clean record (family usually can provide a vehicle; if FA is using their own the family will reimburse for mileage)
• Experience helping beginner readers
• Active, playful, engaging
• Organized
• Proactive and takes initiative to help parents planning activities and day-to-day for the kids
• Can make a long term commitment, ideally 2+ years

Responsibilities

• Help parents plan activities and the day-to-day schedule for the kids
• Childcare for the boys
• Errands
• Taking kids to doctor’s appointments
• Grocery shopping
• Family laundry
• Pick up kids from school, driving to activities
• Homework help and reading comprehension with their youngest
• Simple cooking / meal prep for the family
• Pet care for two small dogs: letting out to go to the bathroom, feeding, etc.
• Pet sitting whenever family is traveling
