Family Assistant

Are you an experienced family assistant looking to grow with a family in a beautiful, rural but lively area? Are you super organized and dynamic in your role? Are you a total team player? If you thought, “YES!” then keep reading!

Family Syllabus: A warm and dynamic family of four, soon to be five, in Nevada City, CA, is seeking a full-time Family Assistant to support the smooth operation of their home and lifestyle. The family lives on a beautiful property with many nature-filled opportunities just waiting to be organized! Their 2-year-old and 4-year-old boys are cared for by a nanny, and this family is looking to add another amazing person to their team. Please be open to working alongside Grandpa at times, too, as he is currently living with the family. Both parents are business owners, and they lead a dynamic lifestyle. Baby number three will join the family in January 2026. There are so many wonderful things to look forward to with this family!

Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, proactive, and enthusiastic about wearing many hats in a family-focused environment. Please be a confident communicator who can comfortably coordinate with vendors, manage shifting household priorities, and assist with both high-level planning and day-to-day tasks. Experience with household systems, event planning, and basic assistant duties is highly valued. A candidate who is excited by variety and thrives in a supportive yet ever-evolving role will be an excellent match. Though not a nanny role, the assistant should be comfortable around children, willing to step in if needed for short-term help (ex: nanny sick days), and open to occasional pickups or outings with the kids. House-sitting and cat care while the family is away is also appreciated.

Job Synopsis: This is a multi-faceted role encompassing a mix of personal assistant work, family logistics, and event coordination. Please be ready to manage the household laundry, planning and preparing simple, healthy meals, and handling regular grocery shopping to ensure the kitchen and pantry remain well-stocked. The assistant will also help maintain general household organization, ensuring that commonly used items are easy to access and that the home runs efficiently. While the family has a regular house cleaner and no deep cleaning is expected, the assistant may occasionally be asked to prepare guest bedrooms and bathrooms, such as changing sheets, tidying up, and making sure spaces are clean and welcoming for visitors. Seasonal tasks include rotating wardrobes and home items for different times of year. The assistant will also support the family with scheduling, managing appointments, coordinating with contractors and service providers, and occasional errands or returns. Strong organizational skills are key, especially for creating and maintaining systems for children’s clothes and household storage spaces. The family hosts several events annually, including one large summer party and smaller gatherings throughout the year. The Family Assistant will assist with vendor coordination, catering arrangements, and event-day support. There may also be optional support opportunities related to the parents’ businesses (light executive assistant work).

The rate for this role is $45-$55/hour gross, with benefits including paid time off, holidays, sick days, and a medical stipend. A vehicle will be provided while working. This family is open to a nationwide search and will assist with relocation for the perfect candidate. The family will provide temporary guest house housing for 1–2 months during the transition period if needed. The ideal schedule is 9 am–5 or 6 pm, with some flexibility, and split shifts or adjusted hours are absolutely welcome, especially to support afternoon/dinner prep on select days.
