Nanny with Special Needs Experience

• Location: Summit, NJ
• Schedule: Monday to Friday from 7:00–9:00 am and 2:00–6:00 pm, with one weeknight extending until 10:00 pm (the family is flexible and can offer additional hours if desired)
• Start: As soon as they find the right fit
• Children: 7 year old and 14 year old (both boys are highly sensitive and have ADHD, so the ideal nanny will understand how to build trust, maintain structure, and keep interactions positive and playful)
• Salary: $30/hr to $40/hr based on experience
• Benefits: 30 to 40 guaranteed hours per week, overtime pay for hours over 40 in one workweek, 2 weeks paid vacation, paid sick/personal days, paid holidays, annual bonus, health insurance contribution negotiable, paid via W-2 payroll
• Contract Type: Long-term 

Duties & Responsibilities

• • Help the kids get ready for school (wake-up, breakfast, getting dressed)

  • Handle school pickups and drive to activities

  • Engage children in play, arts and crafts, games, creative projects, and other fun, stimulating activities

  • Assist with homework and help keep after-school routines on track

  • Use patience, redirection, and positive reinforcement to support smooth transitions and big feelings

  • Work alongside Mom as a team, sometimes splitting tasks between childcare and school runs

  • Provide light household assistance if working extra hours while the children are in school

Requirements

• • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

  • Minimum of 5 years of professioanl nanny experience caring for school-aged children

  • Experience with special needs (especially ADHD/anxiety)

  • Background in preschool teaching, summer camp, or other child-focused settings is a plus

  • CPR & First Aid Certified (or willing to get certified)

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (family can provide a vehicle for work-related driving)

  • Reside within 30 minutes of Summit, NJ

  • Comfortable with a stay-at-home mom being present

  • Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate with parents

  • Willingness to travel with the family is a plus (not required)

  • COVID vaccinated and up to date with flu shots
