Description: 

A warm and easygoing family in Durham is seeking a reliable, experienced, and collaborative nanny to care for their 3-month-old son. This is a wonderful opportunity for a mature, attentive, and proactive caregiver to support a kind set of first-time parents who value mutual respect, open communication, and a thoughtful approach to parenting.

The ideal nanny is not only nurturing and playful but also detail-oriented, clean, and confident in caring for infants. A strong background in infant care and development is required, along with a willingness to partner with the family as they navigate parenthood together. The family is eager to learn from their nanny and is seeking someone who feels comfortable both sharing expertise and receiving feedback in return.

Position Highlights:

  • Schedule: 35 guaranteed hours per week

    • Monday–Thursday: 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM (with occasional half days on Wednesdays)

    • Friday: Flexibility to work half days on Friday is required.

Responsibilities/ Additional Details:

  • Provide nurturing, attentive care for an infant

  • Bottle feeding (with mostly breastmilk) and transitioning to solids in time

  • Diapering, dressing, and maintaining appropriate sleep schedules

  • Child-related tidying (bottles, baby laundry, toys, diaper area)
  •  
  • Occasional help around the home with vacuuming, loading and unloading the dishwasher, etc.

 

  • Plan and engage in age-appropriate activities to support development

  • Walks around the neighborhood, outdoor play in the yard or screened-in porch, and local outings like library story time, potentially in the future.

  • Home has a large, friendly dog (nanny must be dog-comfortable)

  • Soon-to-be fenced-in backyard and screened porch available for outdoor play

  • A walkable neighborhood with sidewalks and a nearby playground
  • Attending local activities when the weather permits (story time at the library, etc.)

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of infant experience and experience as a nanny are required
  • Reliable transportation and a clean driving record

  • Up-to-date on all vaccines (including COVID/boosters, TDAP, flu, MMR, Hep A/B, and Varicella)

  • Non-smoker

  • Strong communicator, takes initiative, and aligns with a collaborative, feedback-friendly household
