Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Household Manager to support a busy family and oversee all aspects of household operations. This is a true household/estate management role and not a nanny position. The Household Manager will supervise and manage a full-time nanny, a full-time housekeeper, and all outside vendors; prior experience in this capacity is required. Ideal candidates have dedicated their careers to the domestic service field and demonstrate strong longevity in previous roles, with a proven history of long-term placements in private households. A background in house management or estate management is essential. While childcare is not the primary focus of this role, the position will serve as back-up care for the family’s 4- and 6-year-old children when the nanny is unavailable due to PTO, illness, or occasional overnight coverage. The Household Manager will also be responsible for house and dog sitting approximately one week per quarter while the family travels. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 10 years of experience working in similar private households and brings a positive, can-do attitude, excellent communication skills, and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset. You must be highly detail-oriented, capable of working independently, and comfortable managing children when needed. Overseeing both the main residence and guest house, this “Jill of all trades” role will be responsible for implementing and maintaining a household management system (such as Trello, Asana, or Monday.com), creating and managing comprehensive calendars for the family, home, and staff, and ensuring seamless coordination of daily operations. Responsibilities include managing vendors, scheduling appointments, maintaining household inventories, keeping the home fully stocked, running errands, ordering and organizing grocery and Costco deliveries, organizing closets and storage areas, and overseeing meal planning and preparation. Required Skills:
The Household Manager will manage all property systems, including security and surveillance, vehicle maintenance, household technology, and routine maintenance needs such as batteries and light bulbs. Additional duties include handling mail and shipping, coordinating household vendors, planning and executing events, and overseeing house sitting and childcare as needed. Upon hire, this role will be responsible for selecting and managing a housekeeper for the properties. A valid driver’s license is required. Candidates must be willing and able to provide occasional overnight care for the children when the parents travel (approximately one week per year).
