Family Assistant in Lincoln Park, Chicago
We are searching for a proactive and reliable Family Assistant to become an essential part of our household team in Lincoln Park, Chicago, IL.
About the Role
We are a professional couple with school-aged children (ages 6-14). We seek a mature self-starter who brings positive energy, strong organizational skills, and a flexible mindset to our dynamic environment. You must be comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with us to ensure the smooth, efficient running of our home and the well-being of our children.
This role requires sound judgment, a high EQ, and a dedicated approach to supporting both the children and the overall household operations.
Key Responsibilities
As our Family Assistant, your focus will be on the children's well-being, schedule management, and key household support:
- Serve as a dependable team member for the family, building trusting relationships with the children.
- Supervise homework, coordinate playdates, and engage children in age-appropriate activities.
- Expertly manage complex family calendars (activities, appointments) and safely drive the children to and from school, lessons, and sports.
- Assist with shopping (groceries, clothing, supplies, gifts), manage deliveries and vendors, and prepare simple, healthy snacks, including assisting with gluten-free meal preparation.
- Work respectfully and collaboratively with the parents and existing staff, being receptive to instruction and feedback.
Qualifications
- Previous verifiable experience as a Nanny or Family Assistant in a private household, with specific experience caring for teenagers.
- College degree preferred.
- Tech-savvy, highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Reliable, mature, adaptable, discreet, and committed to confidentiality. A good sense of humor is a plus!
- Must hold a valid driver's license (insurable), have prior experience driving children, and be First Aid/CPR certified or willing to obtain certification.
We welcome applications from graduate students who can work with our family for one or two years or applicants seeking a long-term role.
Schedule:
- Generally, Monday-Friday 2:00 pm to 8:00/9:00 pm based on schedules.
- 35-40 hours per week guaranteed
Compensation:
- $45 to $55 per hour based on experience
- Benefits include a health stipend, 15 days PTO, and 6 paid holidays.
