Our clients are seeking a highly organized, discreet, and proactive Family Assistant/Assistant Household Manager to join their experienced household team. This is a long-term role for a positive and resourceful individual who thrives in a team-oriented and dynamic private household environment.

You will work closely with the thoughtful principals, the tenured Household Manager, and other staff to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the family's primary residence.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the teenager to and from school and activities, and provide transportation for other family members as needed. You must be an excellent driver.
  • Assist with pet care, including dog walking, in partnership with other household staff.
  • Manage essential errands: grocery shopping (including pulling ingredients from recipes), dry cleaning, post office, package returns, and pharmacy pick-up.
  • Maintain household inventory, including pantry organization, removing expired goods, and stocking cleaning, paper, and office supplies.
  • Care for indoor plants.
  • Manage the family vehicle fleet (gas, maintenance, registration).
  • Assist with general office tasks (scanning, printing, filing) and providing basic tech support for family members (Apple products, Microsoft Office, Google Suite).
  • Assist with reservations and travel.
  • Assist with tech support coordination.
  • Assist the Household Manager with meal preparation, including cooking, ingredient prep, or coordinating take-out/delivery.
  • Monitor household maintenance schedules, managing home deliveries, and liaising with vendors.
  • Assist with large-scale projects, including extensive holiday decorations, family events, photo book preparation, consignments, sales, and donations.
  • Flexible to travel occasionally to secondary homes (NYC and New England) and possibly on family vacations.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are seeking an individual with a strong sense of accountability, excellent boundaries, and a desire for a long-term role, as a Personal Assistant to the principals when the child departs for college.

Qualities

  • Minimum 3+ years of verifiable experience working in a private household is preferred.
  • Strong preference for a college degree.
  • Exceptional organization and attention to detail are key.
  • Must possess strong prioritization and time management skills.
  • Must be resourceful, adaptable, positive, energetic, and thrive in a team setting. Requires a quiet, reserved personality with utmost discretion and common sense.
  • Professional, polished presence required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, strong people skills, and the ability to effectively interact with all staff, family members, and vendors.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficient with Apple products, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite, and comfortable utilizing mobile apps and internet research. Willing to assist the principals with their tech needs.
  • Physically fit and able to manage stairs, lift groceries, move inventory, and handle decorations.
  • Must be financially responsible and able to manage family credit card expenses responsibly.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary $38-$48/hour, commensurate with experience.
  • Benefits include health insurance, 401(k) with match, PTO, paid holidays.
  • A staff vehicle available for work use.
  • Generally, Monday to Friday - some days 9:00 am to 5:00 pm other days 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. There will be occasional evenings or weekends with advance notice provided
