Inside Their World:

This is a close knit, energetic Washington, DC family with three children and an active, full life. The parents enjoy traveling, cooking together, and spending quality time as a family, and they value an organized home.

The children are bright, curious, bilingual, and thrive with an engaging nanny. The 8-year-old follows a one-week-on, one-week-off schedule. The 2.5-year-old attends Montessori school from 9:00 am–11:45 pm. The newborn, who is breastfed, is currently primarily with Mom. She pumps if needed or at night while the baby is with the night nurse. Care will transition fluidly throughout the day.

Mom is highly organized, detail oriented, and present in the home throughout the day. She is kind and personable. Dad is engaged with the children when he is home and travels regularly for work. The family is familiar with having support in their home and places a strong value on professionalism, consistency, and thoughtful decision-making.

Family Environment:

This household is built on trust and mutual respect. Staff are a welcomed part of the household and treated with warmth and professionalism. Expectations are clearly defined, and follow-through matters.

Parents are engaged and attentive while also respecting independence and autonomy. Once responsibility is handed off, it is expected to be handled fully. Privacy and discretion are important, and emotional maturity is essential. This is a calm, well-run home where steadiness and reliability are valued over constant communication or performance.

Who Thrives Here:

This role is well suited for a confident, intuitive professional who works comfortably with autonomy. The ideal candidate approaches situations thoughtfully, makes sound decisions, and brings a steady, grounded presence, especially during periods of transition. This is a strong fit for someone organized, loyal, flexible, and confident working alongside involved parents.

Travel is a meaningful part of this role. While lighter during this current newborn phase, the family travels regularly both domestically and internationally, including extended stays of several weeks or longer. Past travel has included California, Rome, and month-long stays in places like the Hamptons and Italy. A valid passport and genuine comfort traveling with a family are required.

Spanish-speaking candidates are a bonus and strong driving skills are required. The family has two small dogs. You will assist with basic pet care related to the children’s routine and must be comfortable in a pet friendly home.

Daily Rhythm:

Days in this home are intentionally structured to feel calm and supported. Right now, mom takes the lead in caring for their newborn and values smooth, confident handoffs that allow her to step away knowing her baby is in capable, thoughtful hands and everything at home continues to run smoothly.

During school hours and nap times, the nanny is expected to reset children’s spaces, rotate toys and books, organize children’s items, prepare children’s meals, manage children’s laundry, and support the overall flow of the household as it relates to the children. This includes researching and coordinating children’s activities and managing the children’s calendar with appointments, school-related logistics, and assisting with child-related transportation. In addition to childcare, this role supports the overall functioning of the household, including family errands and grocery shopping, maintaining household supplies, overseeing vendors and routine household maintenance, assisting with hiring or coordinating household help as needed, and keeping family-facing spaces such as the kitchen and hallway closets tidy and functional.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of professional childcare experience
  • Previous experience as a family assistant or household manager
  • Flexible & organized
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Reliable and insured vehicle
  • Clean driving record & ability to pass a background check
  • Valid passport & availability and readiness to travel domestically and internationally
  • Pet-friendly (lap dog lovers!)
