Full-Time Family Assistant | Bedford, NY

A family in Bedford, NY with 3 children ages 5, 8, and 9-years-old is seeking an active, engaging, and organized family assistant. They are building a gorgeous home in Katonah, NY but currently reside on a farm in Bedford and spent as much time in Florida as they can as well (they would like to spend up to 3 months at a time in FL). The new home should be completed in August or September. The Mother is a stay-at-home-mom and the Father works from home; they are a down-to-Earth family that works hard and plays hard. They own 14 horses and the eldest children ride the horses. This is a nice and personable family and they are seeking the same in a candidate. The parents are very involved and the primary people raising the children but would love to bring in some additional help and support in a wonderful family assistant! This role is preferred for a live-out candidate (and they would offer some housing/rental assistance) or live-in (private bedroom/bathroom in their current home; on the same floor as the family’s rooms). When they move, they can provide a small guest house on property for the candidate to live in, but again, the preference is for a live-out candidate. The schedule will be Monday through Friday 9:30am-5:30pm or 10am-6pm; they do require flexibility to help on some weekends and some travels days as well. The children are in school during the week from 7:30am-3 or 4:30pm depending on the day. The after-school routine is homework, dinner, play, bedtime. About the children: the children are energetic, but they like order. They are well-behaved. Sibling rivalry can happen, so being able to moderate and assist is needed at times. A great fit for this role is an active/sport candidate who has a teaching background and huge bonus if they are a lover of horses as well.

Responsibilities

• Take the children to/from school and activities (zoo, museum, etc.) as needed; typical schedule is just school pick up and not school drop off unless working when the parents are away
• Stay overnights at times with the children if the parents want a getaway (could be 1x/month)
• Weekend availability at times is needed
• Researching things like after school activities and summer camp options and advising parents of recommendations
• Scheduling doctor appointments for the children and attending if needed
• Calendar management for the children
• Grocery shopping for the family
• Contacting vendors to get things repaired/done around the home
• Taking items to the new home as needed
• Taking the dog to the vet as needed
• Homework help/oversight

Desired Qualifications

• They really want someone fun and sporty
• Big plusses are: being able to teach the children an instrument, good at board games, great at bedtime routine.
• An educational background would be wonderful

Requirements

• Licensed driver with a clean driving record
• Must be comfortable with pets; they have 1 dog, a dachshund, and 14 horses. Down the line they want to have ducks, bunnies and more dogs and a huge plus would be someone who could care for them when they're out of town

Salary and Benefits

• $45-55/hour with the goal of an overall all-inclusive package of $120-150k which will include rent assistance if needed, annual bonus, and a monthly healthcare stipend. The offered rate will depend on the candidate's experience in similar roles held, any educational/teaching background, ability to perform all job duties and have weekend flexibility, etc.
