A warm, grounded family is seeking a highly educated, full-time Governess to play a central role in supporting their children’s development, social awareness, and daily structure. This position is ideal for a confident, proactive professional who can thoughtfully guide manners, behavior, routines, and life skills, partnering closely with the parent to establish consistent standards and expectations while creating space for meaningful, enjoyable time together.
The Governess will act as a trusted extension of the parent, modeling values, reinforcing expectations, and creating an environment that balances warmth, consistency, and engagement. This role works closely with a hands-on parent and an established household team, including a Household Manager and weekend childcare support.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary guide for manners, behavior, social awareness, and daily structure
- Support shared family meals with a focus on etiquette, positive interaction, and age-appropriate responsibility
- Engage children in enriching activities, projects, and curated learning opportunities
- Prepare healthy snacks and light meals for the children; involve children in age-appropriate meal preparation
- Maintain organization and tidiness related to the children, including dishes, play areas, and bedrooms
- Monitor schedules daily and proactively plan ahead for transitions, activities, and travel
- Work confidently alongside an involved parent while taking ownership of the children’s routines and development
- Collaborate closely with the Household Manager and weekend childcare team
- Travel with the family during school breaks, including domestic and Caribbean travel
Qualifications
- Degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field strongly preferred
- Canadian citizenship preferred
- Highly educated, articulate, and confident in guiding children’s social and behavioral development
- Experience acting in a leadership or proxy-parent capacity within a private household or educational setting
- Proactive, autonomous, and comfortable taking initiative without direction
- High energy balanced with a calm, composed presence
- Comfortable working within a staffed household environment
- Long-term mindset; minimum two-year commitment preferred
- Valid passport and ability to travel frequently Internationally
Location: Toronto, Canada
Schedule: Flexible schedule based on candidate fit. Options may include:
- Afternoon to evening coverage (approximately 1:00 PM–9:00 PM)
- Three 12-hour shifts per week with remaining days off
- Monday–Friday or condensed schedule options
Final schedule to be determined collaboratively
Travel: Required during school breaks only. Travel includes short domestic flights and Caribbean trips with private accommodations

Salary and Benefits: Starting at $125K (Canadian) (DOE). Vehicle provided for work related use.
