Household dynamic:

  • This adventurous, loving, and entrepreneurial family is seeking a Spanish-speaking, travel-ready private educator to join them in nurturing and supporting their bright, curious 4-year-old son! His parents described him as a joyful, inquisitive, and highly advanced learner with a deep fascination for music, cars, and storytelling. He’s passionate about singing and playing multiple instruments, including drums, piano, guitar, trumpet, and violin. Someone with a strong musical background who naturally weaves music into his daily learning will be appreciated!  He thrives in an environment where he can explore freely, ask big questions, and express himself through movement and sound. The family fosters an environment filled with warmth, exploration, and music. They look forward to partnering with a candidate who understands alternative education models and brings energy, adaptability, and a passion for music to each day.
  • Both parents work from home and are actively co-parenting their son and prioritizing his growth and development. The private educator will have their own bedroom and bathroom in every location and may use their own vehicle or be provided transportation, as needed, when moving between homes or for child-related activities. Dad does have a second child due any day this month, and while the candidate will not be responsible for the newborn, there may occasionally be overlap where support with both boys is appreciated. They prioritize creating a sense of rhythm and grounded presence for their son while also embracing a dynamic, travel-filled lifestyle, splitting time between multiple residences in Wyoming, Florida, and Tennessee. The family values adaptability and spontaneity in their travel, often making last-minute adjustments to align with work, quality time, and enriching experiences for their son. In addition to their domestic travel, they take international trips several times a year. Given the time spent in Wyoming, confidence driving in winter conditions is important. The family hopes to work with an on-the-go private educator who can seamlessly adapt to their dynamic lifestyle will be a great fit!

Ideal Candidate:

  • This position is perfect for a nurturing, organized, adaptable, and Spanish-speaking private educator who is passionate about supporting the learning and developmental journey of a bright, growing preschooler. The ideal candidate is easy-going, travel-ready, and thrives in a dynamic environment with many moving parts. The family seeks someone confident in promoting their child’s growth in language, math, science, history, art, and music. A resourceful and experienced private educator who can foster their son’s interest and love of learning through playful, hands-on, child-led exploration will be a great fit. This may include incorporating creativity, storytelling, visual arts, or movement-based activities. The family values nature-based education and travel, so a passion for outdoor and experiential learning is essential. The candidate should be playful, engaging, and bring creativity and energy to every learning experience. Emotional intelligence and intuition are crucial, as the educator must be attuned to the child’s needs and help build confidence, resilience, and a deep love of learning. A strong background in holistic, child-led education, experience with Montessori, Waldorf, Reggio Emilia, or similar teaching principles, and a good understanding of early childhood development, including speech and fine motor skills, are highly beneficial.
  • The candidate will live full-time at the mother’s home in Jackson and will assist with commuting to the father’s home when their son is with him. There will also be opportunities to travel with the family and provide care while the parents are away for work, so an enthusiasm for travel is key. The ideal candidate should maintain a steady presence, providing consistency, rhythm, and a sense of home wherever the family goes. The family hopes to find someone who can naturally weave the Spanish language into daily routines for joyful immersion. They value a candidate who can collaborate effectively with the parents and maintain a professional approach to care while fostering a warm and thoughtful atmosphere in their home. They are excited to work with someone committed to building a long-term, meaningful partnership.
  • The private educator will be responsible for creating an environment where the child can grow and thrive. This includes facilitating engaging and enriching activities that incorporate curiosity-driven, child-led education. The educator will blend philosophies such as Montessori, Waldorf, and Reggio Emilia to nurture the child's natural intelligence and creativity.  The educator will thoughtfully observe and respond to the child's evolving interests by developing playful and engaging lesson plans. These plans may involve exploring topics like trucks, animals, or any new fascination that arises. The private educator will actively seek out aligned peer engagements, including supporting his social learning alongside other children at each location, setting up playdates, and small group activities. Facilitating immersive, social, and relational learning opportunities that support communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills with peers will be essential. The educator must be adaptable with lesson planning and daily routines, adjusting based on location and being able to pivot quickly when travel plans change. Spanish language will be incorporated into daily activities and routines to support natural language immersion. The educator will also handle various child-related household tasks, including meal preparation, tidying, organizing children’s areas, running occasional errands, managing before and after-school routines, coordinating activities, and traveling with the family throughout the year.
  • While it is not a requirement, the family would love to work with a candidate who has a Bachelor’s degree.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of professional childcare experience
  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Knowledge and experience with age-appropriate developmental milestones for preschool-aged children
  • Experience in education outside of the classroom
  • Interest in child-led learnings
  • Background and experience in Montessori, Waldorf, Reggio Emilia, or similar philosophies
  • Experience and excitement about traveling with families and children
  • Ability to swim and comfortable caring for children in and near water
