  • Location: Incline Village, NV. The family will be in Maine for the first few weeks for the baby’s delivery.
  • Ages of children: Newborn due in August 2026
  • Start date/Contract dates: 4-6 months beginning in mid-August - NCS to be present at delivery and assist the family with transitioning back to their home in Lake Tahoe within 4-6 weeks of birth.
  • Schedule: Subject to adjustment with the NCS' agreement, but anticipating 12 weeks of 5-7 days weekly of 24-hour care and 12 weeks of 5-7 nights weekly of 12-hour overnight care. The family is open to a transitional schedule based on the NCS' recommendation and developmental milestones.
  • Compensation: The family is offering a hourly rate of $55-$60, which equates to a weekly base compensation of $9,240-$10,080 during weeks of 24/7 care, and a weekly base compensation of $4,460-$5,050 during weeks of overnight care. Final contract amount is dependent on candidate experience and the agreed-upon schedule and contract length.
  • Live-in/Live-out: Live-in. A private bedroom and bathroom will be provided.

Household dynamic:

  • This warm and intentional single dad by choice is welcoming his first child, a newborn due in August 2026 via surrogacy. Dad will be home and highly involved, especially in the early months. His mom will be present as well for at least the first six weeks and intermittently thereafter, providing an additional layer of support for the family. The newborn care specialist will be present at birth in Maine and will assist with the family’s transition back to their home in Nevada within the first 4-6 weeks. During the contract, the candidate will work as part of a small, collaborative support team focused on caring for the baby and Dad during this transition, with emphasis on overnight care throughout the contract so the family can be well-rested during the day. This dad also has a very sweet, older 3.5-pound dog!
  • The family is rooted on the north shore of Lake Tahoe. Their home is a quiet, beautiful setting and has been thoughtfully prepared with the baby in mind. Dad is a tech entrepreneur who has intentionally stepped back from daily operations and will be on parental leave to be present and hands-on during the early months. He is active and outdoorsy, enjoying snowboarding, hiking, lake time, and looks forward to raising his child in an environment where nature and exploration are right outside the door. He also enjoys ceramics and creative projects, and the household reflects a relaxed, curious energy where learning and tinkering are part of the daily rhythm. The household is supported by household cleaners once or twice a week and a personal chef who stocks the refrigerator with prepared meals.

Ideal candidate:

  • This position is ideal for a calm, gentle, grounded, and collaborative newborn care specialist who genuinely enjoys fostering the early newborn development and supporting families as a true partner during this special stage. The ideal candidate is adaptable, engaging, and perceptive, with the ability to bring confidence and expertise without being directive. Dad is a motivated first-time parent who is calm, warm, respectful of professional expertise, and easy-going to work with. This role is best for a newborn care specialist who loves what they do and enjoys working alongside an engaged parent collaboratively. The family will highly appreciate a candidate who approaches their role with humility, respect, and a strong sense of partnership. The candidate should take pride in helping the family feel capable, informed, and confident in their parenting. The newborn care specialist should be knowledgeable about all aspects of infant care, including sleep shaping and conditioning, and early newborn routines. The family is excited to welcome someone adaptable and perceptive, who knows how to read the room and intuitively knows when to step in and when to step back to allow family time.
  • Responsibilities include creating a nurturing and safe environment for the newborn to thrive, as well as other child-related tasks, including prepping and sanitizing bottles, the baby’s laundry, tidying the nursery, and generally bringing a supportive, all-hands-on-deck, collaborative attitude to each day.
  • While not a requirement, the family will value someone who has experience working with parents via surrogate and/or single parents by choice.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of relevant professional experience (as a newborn care specialist, night nanny, doula, or nanny)
  • Experience working as a newborn care specialist and/or doula with at least 5 families
  • Knowledge of every aspect of newborn care, including professional and working knowledge of feeding, bathing, and dressing infants, and preparing, cleaning and sanitizing bottles
  • Experience and knowledge surrounding sleep conditioning, establishing routines, feeding routines, and developmental milestones
  • Newborn care specialist training, preferably through Newborn Care Solutions or another CACHE-accredited program
  • Travel Experience
  • Live-in experience
  • Up-to-date on standard vaccinations (Tdap, Flu, etc.)
  • Partners, family members, and/or pets cannot be housed in any temporary or long-term accommodations provided by the family
