Organized & Dependable Nanny / House Manager Needed FT in Redwood City

A warm, welcoming family in Redwood City is seeking an experienced, organized, and nurturing Nanny / House Manager to care for their highly verbal, spirited 2.5-yr-old son and support the smooth running of their household. They are looking for someone who is loving and communicative, an excellent problem-solver, and committed to growing with their family long-term. As their son gets older, the role will naturally evolve to include more household management and organizational support — making this a wonderful opportunity for someone looking to build a meaningful, lasting career in private service. The ideal candidate is a true team player who is willing to pitch in where needed and comfortable shifting priorities on short notice.

The schedule is approx. 40 hours/week:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Wednesday 7:30 AM – 11:30 AM

Experience Requirements

  • 2 years minimum experience working as a nanny/house manager with excellent verifiable references

Educational Requirements

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); fluency in Mandarin, Korean, Japanese, French, or Spanish is a plus but not required
  • College degree and ECE, Montessori, Waldorf, or Reggio Emilia credentials preferred

Qualifications

  • COVID-vaccinated + current on annual booster or willing to update
  • Current on TB, Tdap and flu vaccines
  • CPR Certified
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable personal vehicle for errands (mileage reimbursed); family will provide a household car for child transport
  • Experience with verbally gifted, ADHD, or twice-exceptional children highly valued
  • Experience supporting sensory-seeking children and familiarity with occupational therapy strategies and techniques highly valued
  • Experience with eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) or feeding challenges highly valued
  • Demonstrated longevity with previous employers (2+ years preferred)
  • Organized, punctual, and dependable with a strong track record of reliability

Responsibilities

CHILDCARE RESPONSIBILITIES (~60%)

  • Support morning routine: wake-up, breakfast, and school drop-off
  • School pick-up and transportation to activities
  • Plan and lead age-appropriate enrichment: outdoor play, nature-based play, sports/scootering outside, baking/cooking, imaginative play, arts & crafts
  • Immersion in second language strongly preferred
  • Prepare nutritious meals and snacks for the child
  • Support with potty training
  • Incorporate OT and PT exercises where possible
  • Support social-emotional learning — naming emotions and engaging peacefully and respectfully with others
  • Provide attentive, nurturing care; candidate must be comfortable supporting a child with a GI-related eating issue
  • Take photos and videos of child on provided phone and update parents daily

HOUSEHOLD MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES (~40%) — when not caring for child, unless including child in the activity

  • Prepare simple, healthy dinners for the family
  • Handle family laundry
  • Unload and load dishwasher
  • Tackle household organization projects and light tidying to keep the home in order
  • Vacuuming and light mopping
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting appliances; problem-solving where necessary
  • Run errands: restocking household supplies, handling packages and returns
  • Coordinate car maintenance: scheduling service, cleaning, and keeping gas topped off
  • Research and schedule contractors, vendors, and service providers
  • Eventually supporting with meal planning and grocery shopping
