Family Syllabus: A dynamic and well-traveled bicoastal family is seeking an experienced and highly organized Family Assistant to oversee and maintain the smooth operation of their residence in Ojai, CA. The family splits their time evenly between the West Coast and the East Coast, spending approximately six months of the year traveling and residing outside of California. This close-knit, bicoastal family values organization, discretion, and a calm, pleasant household environment. The family has two children who are homeschooled, so the ideal candidate must be child-friendly and comfortable working in a home with a flexible, family-centered rhythm. Their lifestyle involves travel, remote schooling for their children, and a deep appreciation for a well-run, welcoming home.

Ideal Candidate: The family is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and polished professional with prior experience working in high-level private homes. The ideal candidate is calm, proactive, discreet, and capable of anticipating needs. Please be tech-savvy, have strong communication skills, and be comfortable handling scheduling, vendor management, household budgeting, and travel preparation. A pleasant demeanor and the ability to work seamlessly around both adults and children are key. A candidate with experience in hospitality, private service, or estate management would thrive in this role. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic household environment and enjoys supporting both property management and family life. They should also be confident in caring for children when the parents are working or traveling. Please be passport-ready! The family’s preference is to hire a local candidate who lives in Ojai or within driving distance. There will be travel back and forth to New York, as they are a bicoastal family. 

Job Synopsis: The family assistant will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the family’s residence. The role involves maintaining household inventory, ordering supplies, and implementing efficient organizational systems throughout the homes. Travel planning support will also be required, including packing and unpacking logistics, as well as preparing homes for arrivals and departures. The family assistant will also oversee scheduling related to family appointments and household needs, and may assist with planning occasional events or family gatherings as well as scheduling and maintaining floral arrangements.  Handle grocery shopping, household supply restocking, and errands such as dry cleaning, returns, and post office runs; receive and organize deliveries; track household inventory, and coordinate with service providers as required.

A child-friendly, nurturing, warm presence is essential for this role, as the family has two homeschooled children and values a calm, respectful atmosphere. This family assistant must be able to care for the children when the family attends events. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of handling the many moving parts of this dynamic, bicoastal lifestyle. The role requires flexibility to work approximately Mon-Fri for 40 hours per week, with additional hours as needed when the family is on the West Coast. This full-time position offers $40-50/hour gross DOE along with a benefits package that includes two weeks of paid vacation, paid sick days, paid holidays, and a medical stipend.

Vaccination Requirements: This family is seeking a nanny who is up to date on standard immunizations. The family does not require COVID or FLU vaccines.

Qualifications:

3+ years of full-time family assistant experience

CPR/first aid certification

TrustLine certified

Clean reliable vehicle
