Live-out Nanny

Are you an experienced, kind, and patient nanny looking for a unique full-time position in Beverly Hills and Pacific Palisades? Do you have experience supporting children with special needs? Do you have teaching experience or classroom experience? If you thought, “Yes!” then keep reading!

Family Syllabus: This wonderful family of three, currently in Beverly Hills, is seeking a kind, patient, and experienced caregiver for their incredible son! They have an 8-year-old who is very intelligent, gentle, funny, and kind. He loves a variety of things, from animals and being in nature to computer coding and programming. He is an avid reader and loves the author Ernest Hemingway. He is fascinated with ancient Egypt and Rome and loves to travel and visit museums. He needs assistance walking but is getting stronger every day. He is non-verbal and uses an AAC device to communicate. He communicates really well.  He is attending a nearby STEM school on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:45 am to 11:45 am. On Wednesdays, he focuses on extra math at home and then attends his physical therapy. Mom is very hands-on and is looking for someone to partner with her in the care of her son, who has been diagnosed with a rare genetic condition. They do not have any dogs yet, but look to get one in the near future. Their son does horseback riding therapy, so please be comfortable with a variety of animals. The family will be moving back to their home in the Palisades at the end of the summer.

Ideal Candidate: This unique opportunity calls for an exceptional, team-oriented professional to support a wonderful family and their extraordinary young son. The ideal candidate will be a physically strong, “can-do” individual who balances a teaching or classroom background with a calm, gentle nature. As this child is non-verbal, the candidate must have significant experience in alternative communication and a deep understanding of supporting children with complex needs. Beyond academic support, the family is looking for a partner who is highly organized, reliable, and possesses a heart for service. Someone who views this not just as a job, but as a dedicated commitment to a child’s development and well-being.

The role begins in the classroom, where the aide will provide constant one-on-one support and collaborate closely with a visiting team of speech therapists, OTs, and educational consultants. The daily routine transitions from school to the home environment, involving lunch assistance, napping, and continued progress in potty training and self-feeding. A critical component of this role involves managing approximately 3 to 4 daily episodes of intermittent muscle paralysis. The aide must remain composed and physically capable of assisting him during these 7 to 12-minute episodes, ensuring his safety and comfort as his body goes limp or stiffens.

The family is currently based in Beverly Hills following the fires that affected their Palisades residence, with a plan to return to their main home in July. Mom is very hands-on, so the nanny must thrive in a collaborative “team player” dynamic, helping to manage an increasing schedule of afternoon activities. This position requires a high degree of flexibility, including the ability to travel both domestically and internationally. While the home is currently pet-free, the candidate should be comfortable with the family’s plan to welcome a dog upon their return home. The perfect fit will be someone fun and spirited who can keep pace with a child who, despite being non-verbal, is a “great conversationalist” and a joyful host during the family’s frequent business dinners.

Job Synopsis: A typical day with their son will include attending school and providing consistent one-on-one support to support him to thrive. Support with feeding, changing, educational activities, and physical support when their son is walking, playing, or has an episode is extremely important. Other duties will include attending therapies and additional afternoon activities, as well as providing educational, fun, and adventurous activities. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 8:30 am – 5 pm, with flexibility to stay later, occasional Saturday evenings, and travel both domestically and internationally for up to three weeks at a time. This role pays $45-60/hour DOE, with paid vacation, holidays, and sick days. At this time, Mom handles all driving, and you will need a driver’s license and a reliable vehicle to get to and from work.

Vaccination Requirements: This family is open to vaccinated and unvaccinated candidates.
