Proactive, Flexible Family Assistant for Professional Family in Castro Valley!

A busy, professional family of four in Castro Valley is seeking a proactive and flexible family assistant to support their household during busy weekday mornings. The family has two young children: a creative and imaginative 4.5-year-old girl who loves art and imaginative play, and a sweet, energetic 2-year-old boy who enjoys spending time with his sister and family. Both parents hold high-pressure corporate roles and are looking for reliable morning support to help keep their home running smoothly.

Morning responsibilities will include approximately one hour of childcare, such as helping the children get dressed, preparing and serving them breakfast, and ensuring they are ready for the day before a parent handles drop-off to daycare or school. While weekday hours will be consistent, the family would love to find a candidate who is also open to date nights and occasional weekend help, where childcare would be the main focus. In these situations, they would like someone comfortable walking to local parks and local kid friendly venues.

While the parents will typically handle drop-offs, there may be a rare occasion when the family assistant is asked to drive the children to their nearby school. For this reason, the family prefers someone who is an experienced driver. If the candidate uses their own vehicle, mileage will be reimbursed. The family is also open to candidates using a family-provided vehicle.

Once the children are out the door, the focus of the role will shift to household support, with an emphasis on resetting the kitchen after the busy morning routine. This includes unloading and reloading the dishwasher, wiping down countertops and the dining table, and ensuring the kitchen is organized and ready for the evening dinner routine. Additional household responsibilities include children’s laundry, sorting and organizing clothing, setting aside outgrown items, tidying and organizing toys, and maintaining general order in shared spaces. Light meal prep, simple errands, and organizational projects such as closets, pantry, or fridge organization may also be part of the role.

This family values clear communication, flexibility, and consistency, and places a strong emphasis on kindness and mutual respect. The family is ideally seeking a long-term partnership with someone who can grow alongside them as their needs evolve. Spanish-speaking ability is a plus, as the father is fluent and the children have some familiarity with the language, though it is not required. The most important factor is finding the right long-term fit for a supportive and collaborative household relationship.

The family lives in a walkable neighborhood with ample street parking, and most days the driveway will be available as well. They have a two-story home, with the first floor including the kitchen, laundry room, dining room, living room, and a designated playroom area. The home features multiple Montessori-style play areas and activities, along with a large, open kitchen and dining space. Upstairs, there are three bedrooms and a home office where the father works remotely. The mother commutes to San Francisco and needs to leave on time each day, so punctuality is especially important for this family.
