Family Assistant

Are you an experienced Nanny/Family Assistant who thrives in a dynamic household and is looking for your next position in West LA, CA? Are you organized and proactive? Do you flourish working with elementary and middle-school-aged children while also excelling at organization, logistics, and proactive household management? If you thought, “This is perfect for me!” we have the position for you!

Family Syllabus: This wonderful family in West LA is looking for an experienced, career household professional to serve in a dual-capacity role as Nanny/Family Assistant. The family has two children who are elementary and middle school-aged, who love sports, arts and crafts, and being outdoors. Mom and Dad are both professionals with dynamic work schedules, and are seeking someone who is a true partner, a self-starter who anticipates needs, manages details independently, and brings calm, competence, and structure to the household. Their family will need support with managing diabetes, so previous experience with the condition (preferred) or willingness to learn is required. They are seeking someone who is loving, super detail-oriented, reliable, proactive, and organized to provide excellent care, guidance, and companionship for their children.

Ideal Candidate: This family is seeking a detail-oriented, active, clean, compassionate Family Assistant who acts as a true partner in the development and well-being of their children and in managing their household. The ideal candidate is engaging, present, and always one step ahead, serving as a trusted extension of the parents. This role requires a proactive and enthusiastic professional who can balance high-level childcare with comprehensive household organization. Open communication is vital, as the family views the employee as a collaborative partner in identifying and meeting the children’s evolving needs.

This position is dual-role in nature, which shifts naturally throughout the day as needed.  While the children are at school, you will act as a Family Assistant, ensuring the household runs efficiently.  When the children are out of school, you will transition into a caregiver role, providing engaged, age-appropriate care and support for the children. You will manage their daily schedules, which include driving them home from school and extracurricular activities, such as sports, tutors, and lessons. This will also include scheduling and hosting playdates. Beyond logistics, you will oversee all basic needs, while actively teaching the children to grow in independence and self-sufficiency. Health management is also a priority; you will be responsible for tracking and attending to regular diabetes care management.

Job Synopsis: The Family Assistant is essential to keeping the home running smoothly through meticulous organization and maintenance. This includes tidying common areas, maintaining and improving organizational systems, and managing household inventory, proactively anticipating household needs. You will be responsible for providing support for extracurricular activities and family commitments. A key part of the evening routine involves ensuring the downstairs rooms are pristine and holding the children accountable for straightening their own bedrooms and playrooms, providing hands-on help to ensure everything is properly put away.  The Family Assistant will serve as a calm, capable presence throughout the day, maintaining structure, boundaries, and consistency while being warm and engaging.

This position includes grocery shopping and restocking the home. Daily tasks include preparing nutritious lunches for the children. Bonus if you can create simple, healthy dinners for the entire family, followed by a full kitchen clean-up. To ensure the home operates seamlessly, you will also run errands and coordinate with outside vendors. A nanny vehicle is provided for all work-related travel, and given the nature of the role, experience driving in Los Angeles is a requirement. Duties for this position will also include tidying, working with vendors, and maintaining the family’s schedules. Proactive care for their child, including monitoring glucose levels, helping to change the CGM/Insulin pump, and counting carbohydrates in meals and snacks, is crucial to this role. The Family Assistant/Nanny should be an excellent communicator, particularly for the child’s medical needs.  The schedule for this position is Monday through Thursday, 11 am/12 pm – 8 pm, and Fridays from 10 or 12-6 pm. This role pays $45-50/hour gross with a guarantee of 40 hours per week, two weeks paid vacation, holidays, sick time, and a monthly medical stipend. Overnights may occasionally be required, and the family would love a nanny who is open to travel with this sweet family for one-week domestic trips at a time.

Vaccination Requirements: This family is seeking a nanny who is up to date on standard immunizations, which include MMR and Tdap.
