Newborn Care Specialist

Location: Alexandria, VA, 22314

Children: Newborn baby boy (due end of June/early July)

Compensation: $40-$45/hr

Schedule: 25 guaranteed hrs/week. This is a 6-week contract, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM.

Start Date: June 29th or July 6th, 2026

Inside Their World:

This warm, close-knit, and intentional family is seeking a knowledgeable Newborn Care Specialist to support them as they welcome their second child. While the NCS will be solely responsible for the care of their newborn baby boy, their 16-month-old daughter, who is happy, social, and active, will also be at home, adding to the joyful and energetic rhythm of the household.

Family Environment: Mom and Dad describe their parenting style as loving, engaged, and structured. They are thoughtful about setting boundaries and value consistency, especially as they navigate toddlerhood and prepare for life with a newborn. They are in and out of the home regularly and are seeking a professional who can step in with confidence, take ownership of the newborn’s care, and create a calm, steady presence during the day. Safety is a top priority for this family. They are especially intentional about finding someone who is deeply knowledgeable, attentive, and aligned with best practices in newborn care. At the same time, they value a collaborative dynamic and are looking for someone who will respect their preferences and work in partnership with them. As a family, they are active and love spending time outdoors, exploring parks, traveling, and experiencing new places together. They value time around the table, cooking healthy meals, and creating a home environment that feels both structured and deeply nurturing. They also have a friendly 8-year-old Vizsla who is very much part of the family dynamic.

Who Thrives Here:

The ideal candidate is an experienced Newborn Care Specialist who brings both structure and calm into the home. They are confident but not overpowering. Warm but not overly expressive. Organized, proactive, and able to take full ownership of the newborn’s routine without needing constant direction. This is someone who naturally creates order out of the unpredictability of newborn life. They track patterns, communicate clearly, and move through the day with intention. They are reliable, emotionally steady, and bring a sense of quiet professionalism to their work. A strong understanding of newborn safety protocols is essential, including feeding practices, breastmilk storage and handling, and general infant care standards. Experience working with families who value structure and consistency will translate well in this environment.

Daily Rhythm:

This role will focus fully on the care of the newborn, including feeding support (pump-fed and bottle-fed), maintaining a consistent routine, tracking sleep and feeding patterns, and supporting the overall flow of the day. The NCS will be responsible for all newborn-related tasks, including bottle preparation and cleaning, maintaining a clean and organized nursery space, and ensuring all baby-related items are stocked and ready. The right candidate will move seamlessly through the day, anticipating needs, maintaining calm, and allowing the family to feel supported and at ease.

Qualifications:

  • Certified NCS
  • 3 years of professional newborn care experience
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Reliable and insured vehicle
  • Clean driving record & ability to pass a background check
  • Pet-friendly. The family has a Vizsla dog
