  • Compensation: The family is offering $50-60/hour based on the 40-hour/week schedule, which equates to an annualized base compensation of $104,000-$124,800/year range, dependent on experience and the agreed-upon schedule. The family may be open to candidates who are seeking a higher compensation package commensurate with experience.

Household dynamic:

  • This organized, loving, and adventurous family is seeking an enthusiastic private educator to enrich the lives of their smart and curious children. Their children, ages 7 and 6, are highly intelligent, active boys who are eager to explore the world around them. They love arts and crafts, space, music, sports, reading, geography, animals, cooking, playing games, and outdoor exploration. Both children are highly engaged learners who thrive with personalized and interactive educational experiences. The family hopes to welcome a private educator who can help nurture their love of learning while supporting their academic and social development. The family also has a friendly dog, so someone comfortable around pets is essential.
  • The family splits their time between their homes in Florida and the Bahamas, traveling extensively throughout the year. Currently, the children alternate between in-person at a school in Fort Lauderdale when they are in Florida, and homeschooling when they are in the Bahamas. During this transition school year, their regular school curriculum will serve as their primary academic guide until they transition out. While in the Bahamas, the educator will take a more active lead in following the children’s curriculum, maintaining educational consistency, and creating engaging, hands-on learning opportunities that go beyond worksheets and traditional classroom methods. The family hopes to find someone who can gradually transition into the role, build strong relationships with the children and household, and bring joy, creativity, and excitement back into the learning process. Life in the Bahamas is more rustic and adventurous, requiring flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to self-create enrichment opportunities and structured activities when resources may be more limited. The household is fully staffed with two full-time nannies, a chef, and a property manager, and both parents are highly involved and collaborative in the children’s educational journey.

Ideal candidate:

  • The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, adaptable, and engaging private educator who is passionate about making learning meaningful, interactive, and enjoyable during these important early academic years. The family would love to work with someone who can foster their children’s curiosity, confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning while moving beyond traditional worksheet-based education. This person should be creative, resourceful, and able to tailor learning experiences to each child’s strengths and interests, keeping learning fun, exciting, and engaging. A candidate who is confident and knowledgeable in standardized test preparation for ‌children will be an excellent fit. The role will be an excellent fit for an educator who embodies kindness, patience, and is a positive role model for their children.
  • The right candidate should be adventurous, have a personal interest or experience in athletics and athletic development, and be excited to engage with two highly active children who love sports and outdoor activities, especially when the children are in the Bahamas. The family would love to find someone who understands the fundamentals of team sports and can help encourage the children to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle. A private educator who is travel-ready and comfortable spending significant time outdoors in warm climates and excited to embrace activities such as boating, swimming, fishing, and other outdoor activities alongside the family will be an excellent fit. The ideal candidate will also understand the importance of consistency and continuity as the family transitions between life in Florida and the Bahamas over the next several years.
  • Responsibilities include building and implementing a thoughtful, individualized curriculum that supports each child’s academic growth, interests, and developmental needs. The educator will create engaging educational experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, and a genuine love of learning while helping maintain consistency between the children’s educational experiences in Florida and the Bahamas. To ensure optimal outcomes and effective test preparation, the candidate will assist in developing instructional methods that align with standardized testing requirements. The candidate will also organize and oversee practice sessions, drills, and friendly scrimmages to simulate real-game scenarios and improve game strategy. Additional responsibilities include supporting enrichment and extracurricular planning, encouraging active and hands-on learning opportunities, and serving as a collaborative and proactive presence within a fully staffed household. The ideal candidate should be adaptable, team-oriented, and excited by extensive travel and the opportunity to grow with the family in a long-term role.
  • While not a requirement, the family would love to work with a candidate who has experience supporting children with ADD or ADHD.

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of professional teaching experience in a classroom or homeschool setting
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree
  • Creativity in creating curriculum
  • Interest and experience in sports/athletics and an understanding of the basics of team sports
  • Travel experience
  • Ability to swim and care for children in and near water
  • Valid passport
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Dog-friendly
  • Partners, family members, and/or pets cannot be housed in any temporary or long-term accommodations provided by the family
