A warm, kind, and welcoming family in San Jose is excited to welcome a family assistant into their home as they prepare for an exciting new chapter! Their second child is due this September, so they are hoping to find a collaborative and dependable professional who can become a long-term member of their family team. Dad works outside of the home and leaves early, and mom is home with the kids.
The family currently has a delightful three-year-old daughter who is social, talkative, and full of personality! She enjoys connecting with others and easily makes friends wherever she goes. She will be attending daycare full-time, but the family hopes to find someone who will still take the time to build a meaningful relationship with her during morning routines and occasional childcare hours. Each day will begin with helping her get ready for school and safely transporting her to daycare. Dad will handle afternoon pickup on his way home from work.
As the family prepares to welcome their newborn this fall, they are seeking someone who is comfortable supporting a growing household and understands that family needs may shift from day to day. Additionally, this family will need childcare support for both the newborn and the three year old when school is closed or as the mom steps out to run errands, attend classes or spend one on one time with each child. The family is very intentional about ensuring that childcare responsibilities and household duties remain separate. When the children are in the family assistant's care, the expectation is that their attention remains fully focused on the children.
The majority of the position will center around helping the household run smoothly and providing meaningful support to mom as she navigates life with a newborn and preschooler. Responsibilities may include family laundry, washing and sanitizing bottles, kitchen resets, keeping children's spaces organized, grocery shopping, running occasional errands, breaking down delivery boxes, organizing pantry areas, and checking in regularly to see where an extra set of hands may be most helpful. Candidates who enjoy meal preparation and cooking will be appreciated! Though extensive cooking experience is not required, they do need simple meal prep and light cooking tasks, such as marinating chicken, chopping and washing vegetables, and putting together salads.
This family describes themselves as gentle, warm, and collaborative. They value kindness, flexibility, and open communication, and hope to find someone who shares those qualities. They are looking for a family assistant who takes initiative, notices what needs to be done, and enjoys contributing to a positive and supportive home environment. Someone who is naturally organized, dependable, and happy to jump in where needed will thrive in this role.
The family's two story home is bright and spacious with an open layout that creates a welcoming atmosphere. The main floor includes a bathroom, laundry room, living room, dining room and kitchen, and has an open and airy feel. Upstairs, you will find the bedrooms and two additional bathrooms. Outside, a fully fenced backyard offers plenty of space for sensory play, outdoor activities, and picnics! The neighborhood is walkable and located near parks and family-friendly amenities, making it easy to enjoy time outdoors.
A reliable vehicle is required as the family assistant will use their own car for daycare drop-off and errands. The family will provide the car seat and reimburse mileage at the current government rate. The daycare is located a short drive from the family's home.
While not required, the family would be delighted to meet candidates who speak Spanish and/or Hindi. More importantly, they are focused on finding someone warm, professional, and excited about building a long-term relationship with their family.
Occasional date nights and flexibility for additional support may be appreciated from time to time, though these are not required,
If you are an organized, caring professional who enjoys supporting families during exciting life transitions and would love to become a trusted partner to a kind and appreciative family, this may be a wonderful opportunity!
This family requires Tdap, Flu, and COVID vaccines
