A friendly family relocating to New Canaan is seeking a full-time nanny to care for their daughter, who will be about 18 months old when the job begins. This is a wonderful opportunity for a dependable, nurturing caregiver who enjoys forming long-term relationships with families and supporting children through multiple stages of development.
The family is expecting a new baby in January. Initially, the nanny will focus primarily on caring for their toddler. Over time, responsibilities will expand to include care for both children.
Requirements
• At least 21 years old
• Non-smoker

• 3+ years of relevant childcare experience
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (driving required)
• Safe and reliable vehicle that can fit 2 car seats
• Comfortable caring for both an infant and toddler
• COVID, flu, and Tdap vaccinations required
Responsibilities
• Primary care for the toddler, with increasing support for newborn care after January
• Engage the toddler in active, age-appropriate play, learning activities, and developmental support
• Manage daily routines including meals, naps, and structured schedules
• Provide attentive newborn care, including feeding support, soothing, and establishing routines
• Take the toddler on outings such as parks, playdates, and activities
• Support socialization
• Prepare children’s meals and snacks
• Handle child-related household tasks including tidying, children’s laundry, and organizing daily items
• Assist with light errands related to the children when appropriate
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be warm, nurturing, and genuinely enjoy working with young children. They should be high-energy, active, and excited to participate in play, learning, and developmental activities with a very engaged toddler. They will be proactive and organized, with the ability to plan enriching and engaging activities. Flexibility is important as the family’s needs evolve with the arrival of a newborn. Strong communication skills are essential, including regular updates and insights into daily activities. The ideal nanny will be reliable, trustworthy, and respectful of the home environment, with experience caring for both infants and toddlers. Spanish-speaking is a plus, but not required.
About the Family
Mom works from home at times, including on Fridays when both parents work from home in separate spaces. The nanny will have autonomy during the day. The family values structured, intentional, learning-based activities and appreciates regular updates on the children’s day. A friendly, low-energy dog is also in the home, so candidates should be comfortable around and enjoy dogs.
