About the Household & Role

This household includes two working parents and two teenage sons, ages 13 and 15, both of whom have ADHD; one also has a nonverbal learning disorder. The family's longtime nanny of 13 years is transitioning out of the role due to health considerations, and the family is now seeking a Family Assistant suited to this next stage: less traditional childcare, more structure, leadership, and coaching toward independence.

The Family Assistant will support the boys' daily routines, chores, and homework accountability, manage household logistics and resets, and help build systems that foster growing independence as the boys move through middle and high school. This is a practicing Christian household, and the family is seeking a long-term employee, ideally a four-year minimum commitment.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and supervise the boys through daily chores, laundry, and personal organization, with the goal of building independence over time
  • Manage afternoon school pickup and after-school routine, including homework accountability and executive function support
  • Prepare weeknight family dinners and involve the boys in learning to cook
  • Maintain daily resets of key living spaces and support ongoing household decluttering and organization
  • Manage household laundry, including a structured weekly rotation for the boys' laundry and the parents' clothing and linens
  • Handle regular household errands, including groceries, dry cleaning, and returns
  • Manage seasonal shopping for the boys, including uniforms, school needs, and activity gear
  • Maintain household inventory, including pantry and supply stocking
  • Coordinate with scheduled service vendors and provide access for occasional home repairs
  • Maintain the family vehicle used for work purposes (washes, inspections, fueling)
  • Provide basic care check-ins for the family dog
  • Provide weekend coverage several times each fall during family travel, and occasional overnight coverage during parent work travel

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional private household experience, with demonstrated longevity in prior roles
  • Experience supporting neurodivergent children, including ADHD
  • Comfortable and genuinely aligned with working in a practicing Christian household
  • Valid driver's license and comfortable driving a family vehicle, including transporting teenagers
  • Local to the Dallas area; this is not a relocation search
  • Non-smoker
  • Able to meet the household's confirmed health and safety screening requirements, including background check and drug screening

Ideal Candidate

The right candidate is a confident, direct communicator who takes ownership rather than waiting for instruction, comfortable proposing new systems and getting a family on board with them. This role calls for someone who can set clear expectations with teenagers, hold a respectful but firm line, and coach rather than simply caretake. Strong organizational instincts and comfort with technology (calendars, reminders, basic digital tools) are important, as is genuine interest in a multi-year placement with this family.
