An active and incredibly involved Costa Mesa family is seeking an experienced, joyful, and engaging part-time nanny to care for their two children, ages 5 and 2.5. This is a wonderful opportunity for a seasoned nanny who genuinely loves becoming part of a family’s support system and understands how to balance fun, creativity, structure, and loving authority.

The family is looking for a nanny to step in two days per week. Their preferred schedule is Monday and Friday, Monday and Tuesday, or Thursday and Friday, allowing mom to work three consecutive days.

About the Children:

Their daughter is five years old and about to begin kindergarten in Newport Beach. She loves singing and dancing, coloring, dressing up, building Legos, doing puzzles, and reading. She is imaginative, creative, and at an exciting stage as she begins her elementary school years. Their son is an energetic and playful 2.5-year-old who would happily spend his days outside playing with construction vehicles in the dirt! He will be home full-time, continues to take a midday nap, and participates in a couple of scheduled activities each week. With the children at two different developmental stages, the family would love to find a nanny who understands how to meet each child where they are while also fostering a close and positive sibling relationship.

The Ideal Nanny:

The family is hoping to find their own “Mary Poppins” type of nanny: someone joyful, kind, loving, compassionate, patient, and genuinely passionate about the role they play in helping raise children. The ideal candidate will have significant professional nanny experience, preferably at least 6–8 years, with a strong background caring for multiple children. They should be comfortable navigating different developmental stages simultaneously and understand that no two days with young children look exactly the same. This family is looking for someone energetic, active, creative, and comfortable taking initiative throughout the day. Screen time is limited, so their nanny should enjoy filling the children’s days with imaginative play, board games, puzzles, arts and crafts, backyard adventures, park outings, reading, and age-appropriate activities. While warmth and affection are incredibly important, the family also values a nanny who can confidently maintain authority and boundaries. Their approach to corrective guidance does not include yelling, spanking, or timeouts. Instead, they use calm but firm communication, direct conversations about behavior, apologies when appropriate, and discussions about why a behavior was not acceptable and what could be done differently next time. Flexibility and patience are especially important. Some days with the children are wonderfully easy, while others require considerably more patience and creativity. They would love someone who understands this reality and can confidently adjust their approach depending on what the children need that particular day.

Additional Details:

They have a seven-year-old Golden Retriever who is wonderful with children and people. She is enthusiastic when someone first walks through the door but otherwise tends to be lazy, sweet, and easygoing. Because the children have always been cared for by family, welcoming a nanny into their lives is an important transition. They are looking for someone they can truly trust and who will become a valued and respected part of their caregiving team. Driving is required. The family is open to either providing a vehicle for use while on duty or providing car seats for the nanny’s personal vehicle, with the final arrangement to be discussed with the selected candidate. No travel or swimming is required for this position. This is an especially wonderful opportunity for an experienced career nanny who is looking for a consistent part-time schedule with a loving, involved family that deeply values the person helping care for their children. The family is taking their time to find someone who will adore their children and bring joy and creativity into their days, and become a trusted addition to the village that has surrounded them since birth.

Benefits:

  • 1–2 weeks PTO,
  • paid holidays,
  • paid sick days + health insurance stipend
