ABOUT THE HOUSEHOLD & ROLE

This family of five includes three children (ages 8, 7, and a toddler) and a family dog. The Family Assistant will divide time between toddler and school-age childcare and everyday household upkeep - laundry, meal prep, inventory, and errands - with the balance shaped by the chosen schedule window. Later hours involve more after-school engagement with the two older children; earlier hours lean more toward toddler and household support.

A weekly cleaning service handles deep cleaning and linens, so this role is focused on daily household reset and hands-on childcare rather than heavy housekeeping. The family participates in a brief Monday check-in to review schedules and priorities for the week.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide occasional toddler care and support school-age children (8 and 7) with after-school snacks and homework when requested; infrequent school pickup and transport
  • Manage family laundry, including garment care, stain treatment, and preparing children's sports uniforms weekly
  • Maintain a daily household reset - tidy living areas, made beds, organized entryways - with children participating in their own spaces
  • Restock household inventory (paper goods, diapers/wipes, pantry staples, dog food)
  • Prep 1–2 family dinners per week using preferred recipes; manage grocery ordering via Instacart
  • Handle errands including returns, dry cleaning, and pharmacy runs
  • Accompany family on 2–3 trips per year with advance notice

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience caring for children (nannying, teaching, childcare, or similar); prior family assistant experience preferred
  • Comfortable caring for both toddlers and school-age children
  • Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certified, or willing to obtain certification
  • Able to pass extensive background checks and provide strong references
  • Non-smoker
  • Comfortable signing a confidentiality agreement
  • Comfortable with an active, on-your-feet role, including stairs

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The right candidate communicates clearly and proactively - flagging concerns, schedule needs, or household issues. They're comfortable moving between childcare and household tasks throughout the day, and involve the children in age-appropriate participation (tidying their own spaces, preparing for the day) rather than working around them. They're looking for a long-term position and comfortable in a Christian household.
