Family Assistant / Household Support

A warm, busy professional family in Lincoln Park is seeking an experienced and dedicated Family Assistant to join their household and become a trusted, long-term member of their family team.

The family, who has kids ages 7-15, is looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with children while also taking pride in keeping a busy household organized and running smoothly. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive self-starter who brings energy, flexibility, sound judgment, and positive energy to their work.

The ideal candidate is someone who can confidently take initiative and work independently, while also partnering closely with the parents and household staff. You will play an important role in managing the children’s busy schedules, supporting their activities and routines, and helping with the many day-to-day details that keep family life moving seamlessly.

Responsibilities

• Safely driving the children to and from school, sports, lessons, appointments, and extracurricular activities, and attending activities or events as needed.
• Managing and supporting the children’s busy after-school routines, including homework, school projects and extracurricular commitments.
• Helping coordinate the family calendar and keeping track of the children’s activities, appointments, and social schedules.
• Researching and coordinating extracurricular and educational opportunities, registering for programs, and ensuring children have the necessary equipment, supplies, and information.
• Preparing simple, healthy gluten-free after-school snacks and assisting with dinner preparation.
• Managing deliveries, food deliveries, vendors, groceries, and household supplies as needed.
• Running errands for the family as needed.
• Helping maintain organization in the children’s bedrooms, closets, drawers, and play areas.
• Taking initiative on household organization projects and anticipating needs.
• Being a collaborative partner in the household

Qualifications:

• Experienced as a Nanny or Family Assistant in a private household, with experience working with teenagers.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
• A proactive self-starter who sees what needs to be done and takes initiative.
• Warm, engaging, and comfortable connecting with children across different ages and stages.
• A strong team player.
• Receptive to direction and feedback and respectful of the family’s preferences and routines.
• Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to remain calm and positive in a fast-paced environment.
• Someone with excellent judgment, common sense, and emotional intelligence.
• Discreet and professional, with a strong understanding of privacy and confidentiality.
• A confident and experienced driver with a valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record.
• CPR/First Aid certified or willing to obtain certification.
• A college degree is preferred, and excellent, verifiable references are required.

Schedule & Compensation

• Monday – Friday, approximately 1:00–8:00 PM
• 35–40 hours per week guaranteed
• $45–$55 per hour, based on experience
• Benefits include a health stipend of $500/month, 15 days PTO, and 6 paid holidays
• Parking provided and use of house vehicle.
• No travel required.
