A warm, kind single mom in Piedmont is seeking a dependable, proactive family assistant to help her busy household run smoothly. Newly arrived in the Bay Area, this family will be building a new community and support system. Mom is thoughtful, communicative, and collaborative, and would love a consistent, trusted family assistant who can take initiative and anticipate what needs to be done. Will be working a hybrid schedule with some days being remote and some days being in the office.

The family has two energetic young children who love to engage with the people around them, bringing lots of personality and activity to the home! Her 3-year-old boy is high-energy, curious, tenacious, and loves to play and laugh. He is becoming increasingly independent and does best with caregivers who can give him opportunities to try things for himself while providing calm, gentle, and consistent guidance when needed. He loves being outdoors, playing in water, looking for bugs, and exploring hands-on activities that allow him to use his imagination. His younger sister, 12 months, is an active and adventurous toddler who is fascinated by her big brother and loves following along with whatever he is doing. She enjoys music, sensory activities, and exploring her surroundings.

For the remainder of the year, while the children are transitioning into their new school arrangements, the schedule will be Monday through Friday, 10 AM–6 PM. Once both children are attending school full-time, the long-term schedule will transition to Monday through Friday, 11 AM–7 PM, with some flexibility needed for school breaks and holidays. The family is ultimately looking for someone who sees this as a long-term position and is comfortable growing with them as the children get older and their routines evolve.

While the children are at school, the focus will shift primarily to household and family support. Responsibilities will include children's laundry, meal preparation, shopping for and putting away groceries, and running a variety of errands. At times the family vehicle may be available, but when the family assistant needs to use their own care mileage reimbursement will apply. The family assistant will maintain a running list of household and grocery needs and take initiative to make sure food and supply staples do not run out. Mom would also appreciate someone who enjoys helping with organizational projects and can collaborate with her on whatever needs attention around the home.

As the children return from school around 3 PM, the focus will shift back to childcare. The family assistant will help with school pickups, afternoon routines, meals, play, and keeping the children engaged and cared for through the evening. The ideal candidate genuinely enjoys being involved with young children and can bring a playful, patient, and positive energy to their afternoons. Experience with toddlers and an understanding of gentle but consistent boundaries will be especially valuable.

It’s key for this mom to work with a family assistant who is proactive, organized, warm, and highly collaborative, who can help her anticipate needs, communicate openly, tackle the household responsibilities, and lovingly care for the kids.

The family lives in a single-family home in Piedmont with plenty of parking and walkable streets. Their sweet 4-year-old Labradoodle is also an important part of the family! He attends doggy daycare Monday through Wednesday and is home Thursday and Friday. The family assistant may occasionally be asked to help with his pickup or drop-off, feed him, or take him for a short neighborhood walk.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a thoughtful, capable family assistant who enjoys variety, takes pride in being helpful, and would love to work closely with a kind and appreciative parent. For the right person, this role has the potential to grow into a meaningful and lasting partnership as the children and family continue to grow.
