Live-in Nanny

Description:

As a live-in nanny for this busy household, your primary focus is the development and daily flow of two children, ages 5 and 7. A key part of this role is supporting the 7-year-old, who has level 1 autism, with consistency, patience, and structure. This includes maintaining predictable routines, helping with transitions, and supporting social and emotional growth in a calm, encouraging way. The family travels often, sometimes for up to nine weeks at a time in the summer. Smaller trips also occur to destinations such as the Bahamas, Aspen, and New York. This role is a great fit for a nanny who is active, adaptable, and enjoys travel.

Ideal Nanny:

Responsible, active, patient, and loving; great energy to keep up and be active with the kids; previous experience caring for autistic children strongly preferred; flexible for extended travel and schedule needs beyond the standard hours.

Schedule:

  • Live-in 5 days per week: Wednesday to Sunday
  • Hours during weekdays: 6:30am-8:30am and 3pm-7/8pm
  • Hours during weekends: flexible for 10 hours per day
  • Mondays and Tuesdays off (stay or go home on off-duty days)

Duties:

  • Supervise the children and ensure safety throughout the day
  • Maintain consistent, predictable daily routines for meals, play, and bedtime
  • Support the 7-year-old with transitions, sensory needs, and emotional regulation
  • Follow strategies recommended by the parents and the child’s therapists or care team
  • Plan age-appropriate developmental play for both children
  • Support social, emotional, cognitive, and physical milestones
  • Encourage reading and literacy skills
  • Lead sensory, creative, and outdoor activities
  • Attend classes, appointments, playdates, and outings
  • Track developmental progress and share updates with the parents
  • Prepare healthy meals and snacks
  • Keep play areas, children’s rooms, kitchen, and common spaces tidy after use
