Inside Their World:

A close knit and welcoming family is relocating to Oberlin, OH and is looking for an active and trustworthy nanny to care for their currently 8-week-old daughter, with occasional care for their 3.5-year-old son once a week. The children will be 4 months and 4 years old at the time of hire.

The youngest in the family is a sweet 8-week-old. She’s currently breastfed and on bottles too and is coming into her personality.

Their 3.5-year-old son is an energetic and engaging child with a love for reading, riding his bike, and playing with cars and trains. Following the family’s move, he will attend preschool three days a week. He also enjoys family walks, joining in baking and cooking, and spending time with adults who take an active interest in his activities and development. The nanny will care for him one day per week alongside his younger sister and provide care for both children when school is closed.

Family Environment:

Mom and Dad prioritize a household built on consistency, balance, and intentional childcare. While they value structure and routines, they are not overly rigid or strict, remaining flexible and adaptable to their kids’ needs. Their parenting style is warm and intentional, balancing patience with gentle, consistent boundaries while encouraging positive behavior. Spending intentional time together away from screens and talking about their feelings is very important to this family. They love outdoor activities like exploring parks, biking and going on hikes, as well as quieter time indoors reading books together and nurturing a love of language. Dad will be working from home in a separate office space, and both parents are respectful of the nanny’s role and autonomy. They are warm, engaged, and empathetic parents who take an intentional approach to their children’s growth and well-being. They value fostering independence from an early age while providing their children with the guidance and support they need to thrive. They are looking for a dependable childcare professional who will partner with them to provide consistent, attentive care and support their children’s development.

Who Thrives Here:

This role is ideal for someone who is trustworthy, dependable, and proactive, allowing the parents to feel confident that their children are in capable hands. The ideal candidate will have strong infant care experience and previous experience caring for both an infant and a preschooler. They should be attentive to each child’s individual needs while balancing their time and attention between both children. This individual will create a nurturing, secure, and positive environment that encourages independence and supports each child’s growth and development. An engaging, interactive caregiver who takes an active role in the children’s daily lives and is committed to building a strong, nurturing bond with each child will be an excellent fit.

Daily Rhythm:

The focus of this role is full charge infant care, with care for their 3-5-year-old once a week and when schools are closed, and additional child-related household support. Responsibilities include planning and engaging in fun, educational, age-appropriate activities, arranging outings, preparing bottles, safely handling, preparing, and storing breastmilk, and preparing simple meals and snacks for the children. The nanny will also keep children’s common areas tidy and organized, clean up after meals and snacks, load the dishwasher, empty the diaper pail, restock baby supplies, and help maintain an orderly daily routine. Additional responsibilities may include light tidying and organization.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of professional childcare experience
  • Recent infant experience
  • Experience working with an infant and preschool-age child
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Reliable and insured vehicle
  • Clean driving record & ability to pass a background check
  • Ability to swim & comfortable caring for children in and near water.
  • Pet friendly is a must. The family has a cat
  • Current on standard vaccinations (Tdap, flu & MMR)
